Yes, you’re witnessing the ultimate example of me geeking out…
There’s a new movie coming out this October, about Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
It is my belief, that when it comes to internet, internet technologies, internet revolutions, trends, web properties, businesss, successes… there is NOBODY that holds a candle to the monster that Mark Zuckerberg created.
I view Facebook as possibly the most important use of the Internet ever created.
It is a marvel.
It unites families.
Builds friendships.
And sparks off relationships and marriages.
It preserves memories.
It gives the shy bunch a way to connect and the extroverts (like me) a way to manage all their contacts.
And it’s an incredible tool for landing deals, leads, clients and business relationships.
That all barely scratches the surface.
It’s the 8th or 9th wonder of the world (or whatever we’re up to).
And as an obvious internet-business geek myself and one who is VERY FOND of the community business model and happens to be in the same age bracket as Mark… well, I’m just hopping up and down for this movie’s release.
I’m far from a movie buff but I’m addicted to base-on-a-true-story movies about interesting individuals.
Watch the trailer for “The Social Network”.

Trailer #2:
TELL ME that doesn’t grip you.
And if it doesn’t, then you’re no internet nerd. (so maybe that’s a good thing).
Jesse Eisenberg plays Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Justin Timberlake is also in here.
P.S. I’m a really big fan of based-on-a-true-story movies about interesting individuals. I’d love to hear of any great ones that you know of that I (and others) should watch.
Here are my current favorites in this genre…
* The Social Network (it will be a favorite, no question)
* Ray
* Ali
* Into The Wild
* The Aviator
* Invincible
* Get Rich or Die Trying
* 8 Mile
* The Pursuit of Happyness
* Catch Me If You Can
* Million Dollar Baby
* Invictus
* The Last King of Scotland
* Cinderella Man
* Hurricane
* Donnie Brasco
* Blow
* Coach Carter

I just closed out July 2010 as my best personal income month to date. I made more cash-in-hand spendable money (ie: net income, not gross sales) this past July then I used to make back in my job days working a full time AND a part-time job in a YEAR.
Process that: more in one month of work, then I used to make working roughly 55 hours per week as an employee for a year.
And I just finished 6 hours of ramping up a gameplan for this August to even surpass that…
And I put in a lot of hours and work to make that happen.
I WORKED for it and I accomplished my goal…
Yet there are probably even some readers of this article, RIGHT NOW, who see the above as bragging or showing off or just otherwise rude and taboo.
It seems, to some, I’m not allowed to celebrate the results of my skill-set which happens to be marketing and sales strategy.
To some, we’re just not allowed to celebrate business and monetary successes.
And here’s my hang-up about all this…
I spent some time with friends this weekend and through conversations I mentioned this accomplishment. I got smiles and nods but only one or 2 “good for you” or “congratulations” (which was nice to hear). I also got 1 friend saying “that’s nice, why are you telling me this?” and another saying “do me a favor and next time you have a ‘record month’ don’t tell me about it”.
Huh??
Those last 2 replies surprised me.
One of them is a guy who is built like a warrior out of the movie 300, and wins mixed martial arts fights regularly and excitedly announces every win. Well, I”D like to do that!!
The other is from a gorgeous girl friend who wins probably half of every swim-suit and bikini type competitions she enters (she’s been in dozens!!). And she quickly sends me a text to announce each win.
Well, as someone who just a year ago took up boxing… I sure wouldn’t mind knowing that I’m winning fights left right and center. But I’m not. Not yet.
And as a male, I certainly wouldn’t mind having a room full of women whistling and voting for me (though, hopefully not in a BIKINI competition).
So why is financial success taboo??
Unless I’m talking to mover-and-shaker entrepreneur friends, talking about numbers is a no no.
And I completely disagree with it.
Namely because I believe you should celebrate ALL of your successes.
Whether you’re winning fights or in other sports, or swim suit competitions or writing contests or poker tournaments … if you know you worked hard for it and you achieved a goal, enjoy it.
I almost let a couple of friends make me feel BAD about hitting my goal and a new milestone (top net inc*ome month). That would have been ridiculous! I’m glad I caught myself so I wanted to write this and remind YOU to enjoy YOUR successes … even if they are financial/business related.
And surround yourself with other peers who can help you celebrate. Always keep building your mastermind.

Otherwise just read along below I guess…
To save you time, I’ll mention that this is mostly for merchants (info product, merchandise, services, doesn’t matter) and active affiliates.
Otherwise it’s probably irrelevant to you.
Consider any of the recent info-product launches from:
Ryan Diess
Jeff Walker
Frank Kern
John Reese
John Chow
etc etc etc …
These guys have the strongest internet teams, the ability to push the most traffic, 10+ (well in most of those cases) years experience, have done many product launches…
Yet NONE of them (and, again, that examples list could run on forever) had a salesletter.
Dan Kennedy, viewed as one of the top copywriters in the world recently promoted his Summit from a webpage that didn’t have a salesletter…
Instead, it had a salesvideo.
And he’s BRANDED and RESPECTED as a top copywriter.
Yet no long scrolling salesletter.
I have friends in MLM / direct response…
Even in that marketspace, the top recruiters are using sales-videos.
If you read my other email about Jay and Alen the other day you probably saw this page:
… These 2 guys push immense traffic volumes to their offers.
They generate 6-figures monthly revenue and, apparently, have built a 600k list.
Guys like Jay+Alen, the other top names I already mentioned etc are where you want to steal your best conversion strategies from.
They get enough traffic to easily test/optimize conversions.
Meaning they know what sells.
And if ALL of them are using sales videos exclusively, that should be a VERY VERY big hint.
It comes down to attention span.
Technology has obviously changed society. No news there.
But in a BIG BIG way that some “old school” marketers aren’t willing to realize.
You MUST capture my (the prospect’s) attention if you want to have a shot of me sticking around to check out your offer…
A catchy headline and an involving story (strong opening in your salescopy) can help.
But that’s no match to multi levels of interaction…
A video I can watch.
A video I can interact with? (Technology is out there)
A video that triggers buy buttons and page scrolling and all sorts of other events? (Check out my Genie Resources for this technology: http://www.robtoth.com/genieadvantage.htm )
Or an audio that triggers events.
A survey.
A flash game I can interact with.
Do SOMETHING more than just a salesletter…
Online you have an infinite ability to get creative and go beyond just “text” and these days, sticking with just text (salesletters) is leaving you behind because our attention span’s are wrecked.
I like referencing Jay+Alen’s page as it’s such high conversion yet so ridiculously simple/basic:
(SIDENOTE: If you end up watching that video, their membership is KILLER. I’m still wading through it myself. Lots of sweet tactics in there… so if the message resonates, check out their offer.)
I mean take a look at that page. Nothing on there. It’s dark and basic and lame.
It’s just a video.
Yet it SELLS and it SELLS HARD.
Okay …
IS SALESCOPY DEAD? ————–
Does this mean salescopy is dead? Ha ha… no, not in the least.
First off, even those videos rely on salescopy except the salescopy gets turned into bullet point based slides and a compelling voice script (that script is still salescopy).
So, someone STILL needs to write the killer bullet points and the killer script.
How that “salescopy” is delivered is what has evolved…
Additionally, obviously for print mediums, direct mail and such, a video isn’t an option. (Go figure).
So no, salescopy isn’t dead.
And yes, having great “sales in print” skills (or hiring / partnering with a great copywriter) is still VERY important.
But should you use that copy and post a long 14-page salesletter?
I’d recommend that, in most cases, you don’t.
(Of course, testing your offer and your niche is what will give you the REAL answer but I’d start with a salesvideo and multi levels of interaction).
Let’s change gears though and let me talk about the main reason I wrote all this…
THE CASH OPPORTUNITY IN ALL OF THIS ————–
The above is a reality.
In fact, even if it wasn’t true … even if sales-videos didn’t really convert better or “work” … since the top branded internet marketers are using sales videos, the majority will continue to pick up the trend and follow what they see the “big guys” doing. So either way, sales videos are about to become even more popular and more common (than they already are).
There’s an entire nation of info product merchants though, especially in niches, that still use long salesletters.
(Just scan the Clickbank directory for overwhelming evidence of this)…
This ALL creates all sorts of easy-cash opportunities.
Let me run through a few and see if I can plant a seed for a model that may be of interest to you…
** Copywriters
If you’re a copywriter and have wizardry with words, specifically state, and even highlight, your ability to write compelling bullet points and a high conversion story-laced script for sales-videos.
Or even SPECIALIZE in it if you want to capture much of this market.
Don’t be just a general “me too” copywriter. They’re a dime a dozen…
And this is a GREAT way to deliver a better converting result, bring your client into the modern age and create a niche/brand for yourself.
** Video Production / Video Geeks
Massive massive opportunity for you. There are HOARDES of merchants still using long scrolling salesletters. Clickbank is full of them. PayDotCom is too.
Long salesletters are everywhere.
All you need to do is create a presentation (aka a video salesletter) that explains what I’m talking about in this post, educates your prospect as to why they too should AT LEAST have a hybrid (sales video + sales text) and then sells that prospect on using your services.
As soon as you can show consistently increased conversions from your clients (simply split test the video version, the hybrid version vs the text only version)… just mention the conversions and you’ll be able to lock in more work than you can handle.
If you’re a bit of a video geek or you’re a full blown video producer, specifically mention this service and connect with copywriters (for a perfect JV on this). But actively solict the business too because it’s out there and it’s EASY TO FIND (hint: those who have long salesletters!)
** Voice Over Pros
Find copywriters and/or video production teams who offer the above! Create alliances.
They need you. Get some samples done. Even if you create your own, tacky, Jing based demo videos… it’s the voice prospects want to hear. As per above, specifically mention this skill set in relation to sales videos and add that to your branding for a lot more clients.
** Middle-men / Brokers / JV Brokers
Are you a sales type? A closer? A networker? Can you land deals?
Be the middle man in all this. Find a few reliable copywriters. Find a video production team. Find voice over artists. Then go land the contracts…
You charged a marked up rate for “bringing it all together” and for landing the client but you essentially turn the profit just from client acquisition.
Just consider all of this…
Consider the fact that the critical-mass for this change hasn’t happened yet. The Tipping Point hasn’t occured. But it will…
The trend-setters (top branded marketers) are going to help cause this shfit regardless of how well sales videos work.
But then as more merchants realize what 6-figure per month guys like Alen and Jay realized on their site ( http://www.robtoth.com/tip/commform.php ) the popularity and usage of createive sales videos will keep escalating…
And so will the need for related services and well branded experts. There’s CASH OPPORTUNITY in all this for someone interested and savvy enough to turn the gears to this profit engine.
In fact… let’s do this… let’s make it EASY for everyone to make a money with this if they want to. But it will take a bit of audience (that’s you) participation. Leave a comment below if YOU offer any of these services. Feel free to post a web link or mini bio so others reading this now and in the future can connect with you. ALSO, I’d ask if you do NOT have these skills but you have a service provider that you’d recommend, leave a comment about them below too… I may even have work for them!!
