This is a tip not just for the resolution season, but a useful time leverage and productivity tip.
Right off the bat… I want to encourage you to make some “better health” goals.
Doesn’t really matter if you’re in “good shape”… keep it going… keep that good health going. Make those health goals because it’s one of the truest statements that without your health, you’re poor, no matter how much money you have in the bank.
Top top figures like the late Jim Rohn and certainly Tony Robbins all teach success principles but they never forget to also weave in the importance of body and health.
So make those health goals!
And stick to them!
And I’m not just preaching the message… I’m about to step out to the gym right after writing this message, and I take boxing and I’m going to start heading out for regular swims in the new year (THAT is one of my resolutions) etc etc.
Okay… with that said…
Now here’s the tip…
(And if you’re already doing this, remind me to high-5 you next time I see you).
When you’re on the treadmill, or on a run, or in the weight room … make sure you have some success and business audios on your iPod.
By the way, if you don’t have some sort of portable mp3 player.. you should get one. They’re not “little luxuries”. They’re essential education (and relaxation) devices.
iPod Shuffles sell for as low as $60 and clones are even less.
Back to my point…
Having music while working out is, of course, proven to increase your workout performance.
But, from time to time, swap in a business audio instead of music.
While you’re on a bike ride, a walk with your dog, a jog or whatever else … you can also be reprogramming your brain as if you were some character from the Matrix.
Toss in some knowledge and get the best of both worlds: health and success, all in the same time blocks.
This is why my preferred mode-of-learning is by far audio.
Good advice Rob! My new years resolution is to stay in shape, round is still a shape isn’t it? Improve my sense of humor, stay out of lamps unless the are unplugged and finish everything I star…
Great point with the mp3 player. While working out I always listen to personal or professional development stuff, and also have a dictaphone with me.
When I hear something interesting on the mp3, I make a note of the timing within the programme on the dictaphone, and at home I can listen to it again and digest the information.
This way the whole workout session doubles up as a brainstorming session too. Very effective.
For health and fitness stuff, I can recommend Tom Venuto’s materials. It’s down to earth and brilliant. He’s a natural bodybuilder and his materials dissect the methods natural bodybuilders and fitness models use to keep themselves in top shape.
Happy new year to you and lots of success with the upcoming Marketing Summit.
Tom, thanks for chiming in here. And all the best in 2010 to you!
Christopher… ha! Thanks for the comic relief.
